JACK - PROPOSAL

The topic I’m thinking about is a series of portraiture of people, not as whole, but as parts of them. I’m thinking abut taking pictures of their hands, cause from time to time, they can express more content than faces or words. Gesture could mean different things and express different ideas. An example would be we tend to see people’s hand when we can’t see their faces. Therefore, I want to take people’s hand and using the hand as a representation of them. I feel like this would be an interesting project to work on since most of the photographer about portraiture focus on people as a whole, or their faces, and a project about their hand could be different and refreshing. So I think if I can carry on with this project, it could be a different experience for me, which is why I really want to work on this. The way I’m going to carry out this project is I will go out and ask people if I can take a photograph of their hand, and I will make the photo in B&W since I like how...

Claudia Harris - Long Term Proposal

Claudia C. Harris PHOTO 202 Long Term Proposal 10/31/2018 For my long term proposal I will be photographing different places of spirituality/worship in State College. I am photographing places of worship/spirituality because I feel that these places come in many more forms than are traditionally seen in media and day to day life. I feel that these places are very intimate while also being somewhat public—which makes them very unique. There is a lot that can be learned about a person from seeing what they do and do not believe in and these spaces tend to reflect the type of people they attract. I want to be able to show emotion and individuality through the different places of spirituality/worship that I will photograph. I will be photographing places that are readily available to me in State College, as well as reaching out to people I know who have more “untraditional” spiritual practices in order to photograph their places of worship. I feel that this work i...

Xiaoyu Yan--proposal

1.      What are you photographing? I am going to photograph cityscape. During last style writing assignment, I am really interesting in the style of New York photographer Lynn Saville. Her style is pretty special which focus on urban cityscape. I am going to imitate her style, focus on photographing dark city, especially during night and showing the viewers’ the contrast of bright neon light and dark city. 2.      Why are you photograph your project? Because I became a big fan of New York photographer Lynn Saville after last style writing assignment. I want to follow her style to photograph same style photos. 3.      How are you working/photographing (not shooting)? I am planning to go to New York or Boston, or LA during Thanksgiving break to find the best sciene to photograph my work. So I can have enough time to do my best on imitating her cityscape style. 4.      Why do we care a...

Kaitlyn Innerst-Proposal

Photo Proposal What are you photographing? I will be styling and photographing seasonal desserts. I find a lot of my inspiration from the seasons, thus,  I will be using recipes inspired by seasonal ingredients (ie pumpkin, squash, apples for fall and spices, cinnamon, peppermint for seasonal winter recipes). Why are you photographing your subject? I want to focus on photographing desserts I have a wide array of knowledge in plating food. Before returning to school, I worked in fine dining for over four years. I understand the aesthetics of plating a dish. I enjoy it because it is challenging in regards to time sensitivity. I may have a mere five to ten seconds to take one photograph. I thrive in this kind of high-pressure environment. How are you working/photographing? I will pick out the decor for the setting prior to photographing. I will then bake and photograph a total of six desserts (two photos of each dessert). Each setting will be entirely diffe...
