Luca Campigotto:
Luca Campigotto is an Italian photographer, born in Venice, Italy in 1962. After he earned a masters degree in modern history, he moved to Milan and New York City and splits his time in both places. He then spent his time studying travel for his images in Venice, Rome, Naples, New York, London, Chicago, Chile, Morocco, Angkor in Cambodia, India, Patagonia, Easter Island, Lapland, Iran, Iceland, Yemen, and China. He is best known for using a large format camera to photograph landscapes. These Landscapes vary from Mountainsides to cityscapes. He is best known for his more recent work of landscapes in New York City. He in fact created a book called, Gotham City where he created incredible landscapes of the city. He is drawn to images of New York City because of the bright lights and colors he can achieve in the images. He also enjoys the blurred lines of traffic and the colorful graffiti-splattered garages. Looking at his images of New York City, I believe they show a lot of motion, color, and bright lights, yet are often taken during the night time. The images show a large landscape of different parts of New York City, showing the beatify and busy lifestyle people often have while living there. I truly love the images Luca has created. I find them to be very detailed and each has their own unique beauty. These images are exactly what I imagine when I think of the glamorous New York City, and I find Gotham City to be an incredible collection of images.
Tono Stano:
Tono Stano is a photographer born in Slovakia in the 60s but now lives in Prague, Czech Republic. Tono Stano studied at a school of applied arts in Bratislava, in the mid to late 70s. He then continued his studies in Prague in the early to mid 80s, at the FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague), where he studied film, photography, and television. During his time of studies, he and some of his classmates developed a new form of staged photography where they emphasized movements and metaphors. Tono Stano is often found using an old-fashioned 24 x 30 cm large-format camera for his personal use. He is an independent photographer and is best known for his black and white images of the female body. This lens creates a negative on photographic paper where he then can create an image with white shadow that then looks positive. Tono Stano believes this transformation from negative to positive, promotes this conversion as a life philosophy. When I look at the images, I first see the nice contrast between the black and the white colors. I see how symmetrical and simplistic the images are. Often, most of his images are silhouettes but, once I look closer I begin to notice many of the images are of women’s bodies, and some are of naked bodies. Although I like the style of the images; the shapes, colors, shadows, etc. I find the nudity to be uncomfortable and hard for me to look at.
Claus Goedicke:
Claus Goedicke is a german photographer, born in 1966. He studied art, specifically photography with german artist, Bernd Becher. He often uses a process camera or a camera mounted on a tripod. He also is sometimes found using digital work on his computer to collage and layer his images. Claus Goedicke enjoys photographing images of objects that we see in our everyday lives, but in a very unique way. He finds interest in objects we are so used to seeing, we practically do not often notice them. He enjoys using plastic cups, lightbulbs, plaster, scissors, pillows, etc. and combines these objects with multiple bright, pastel colors for the background. His images are individual shots of products, almost looking like he's advertising the product. He finds his images to not only uphold feelings of attentiveness and contemplation but also a form of humor within his with. When I look at the images, I find it to be very appealing to the eye. It is simple and colorful, yet I am very drawn to the image and could stare are the subtle detail for some time. I like how simple the images feel while also having so much thought and detail to the products and colors being used. Personally, I love these images as the remind me of something I would find interesting to photograph. While being a photographer for Valley Magazine, I often found myself creating colorful yet simple sets in my dorm room, to photograph and simple object that the article may be about. Claus Goedicke is a very talented artist who has created many incredible pieces of art.
